If I speak in the tongues of men and angels

We seem so out of touch with ourselves, with what life is about. We’ve departed so far from God, from connection. And we feel kind of fine. But the truth is that we’re all sick to our stomach with the consumption of technology. Because it is no longer us consuming technology. It is now technology consuming us! More of our time. More of our attention. More of our children. More of our perspective. More of our finances. More of our loyalty. More of our marriage. And we feel kind of fine. But we know it’s creeping in on us, and we ignore it, because quite honestly, what can we do about it?!? It’s a monster. It’s a machine.

I’ll tell you what we can do about it.

We can stop. We can close our eyes and breathe in a moment of quiet reflection.

Lord, I have no idea what I want in this reality… but I haven’t seen it yet. What are my dreams? I don’t think I’ve ever really dreamt. I dreamt about swimming with killer whales once, but this is something different. This is about dreaming of achieving something. And the goal is absolutely not to become a product manager and earn ₪30,000 a month so that I can travel the world and eat at more restaurants! Traveling is amazing because the world is freakin unbelievable! What adventures and discoveries are out there! And yet… so what? You come back as if nothing happened, nothing changed, because nothing changed. What was the goal again? No, that is achieving nothing.

“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭1‬-‭2‬
